Under this category you will find our recommendations for the most environmentally and ethically sustainable products for your baby. The terms 'natural' and 'organic' can be used quite loosely.
When we source and recommend organic products for you, we look for genuine organic status. To start with, we're satisfied by expert certification by an internationally recognised accreditation organisation such as OEKO, USDA or NASAA.
For some manufacturers, however, it is simply not viable or possible to obtain certification. So you will also find some products that are not necesarily certified, but, after careful research, we're happy to give them our personal seal of approval.
If you are looking for the most sustainable and baby friendly nappy choice, Baby Greens is quite uniquely a hemp cotton range that has certifed organic status. Naturally grown hemp is a sustainable raw product, but hemp is most often combined with cotton when manufactured into fabrics suitable for nappies. Look for certified organic status for that 45% cotton component. Baby Greens is the only certified organic hemp-cotton product range that we have found. Every component of the nappy is manufactured ethically, and consciously by a small company in the USA, using locally manufactured materials.
Most people think of bamboo as an organic nappy choice. It is certainly a lovely fabric choice for nappies, being so absorbent, finely textured and antibacterial, and it is also a sustainable raw product, but it is important to understand the source and process for the manufacture of the bamboo fabric in your nappies if sustainable integrity is important to you.
At Nurture Nappies we are constantly researching premium quality organic products to add to our range. We welcome your suggestions and recommendations.
By supporting the organic industry, you are helping to provide a cleaner, less toxic environment for all of our children to grow up in.Enjoy!
